Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.
How true these words echo for me from Anaïs Nin. She always seems to be able to articulate exactly what I think and feel. In this case, on the subject of friendship, Dandy and I come from two different worlds. New York.. Adelaide. But it is the world that is opened up between particular people that illuminates a place no others are able to experience. Something akin to an exclusive plane ticket to a far off, exotic land. The best part is, we get to invite all our other friends to this middle ground and it is made all the more heady and sweet.
In our recent sojourn to Sydney – where Dandy is performing in Club Swizzle (see my post from the January 2016 show!) at the Opera House – we took the day to skip about the city. This city, which I have not laid eyes on in years showed me her beauty, drenched in summer sun. Mmm, I mused, days like this are heaven.
