I welcome myself back to the blog, my apologies for those who have been missing my posts, but I am back after a much needed hiatus! I began studying again, I moved house and I saw in 2017 with much, much champagne, as usual! The elixer of the gods perhaps? I think so!
I have been working on some new images, testing different methods to exercise emotions and metaphoric associations. One of the lessons I teach in my workshops is my Diamond Facet metaphor. Surely I didn’t invent it, but it is something I thought of when trying to illuminate exactly how to explain the joys, the pleasures and the authenticity that resides in our many looks and selves.
Today, as I write, I am dressed in a very parisian style – beret tipped to the side, scarf swung nonchalantly over my neck – a cream coloured coat. Yesterday I was Mata Hari, and the day before? A persian king. Every day I am myself, every day a different facet of myself gets to shine.
Facets of a diamond.
You will notice as you bring a cut diamond toward the light, that the one facet which is facing it, is illuminated the brightest. But, it is all the facets together that make a whole. You have many facets, you beautiful diamond. Each of them represents something different in you, all of them make up the whole that is you.
Through this metaphor, see that you can have many looks, many styles. They are all inherently you. It all depends which facet you choose to shine up to the light.
Shine on, you crazy diamond.
